PassportBroList is written and maintained by an independent editorial team, not by a single named author. We are not a licensed immigration or legal practice, a dating service, or a government body. As of September 2026, the site carries no sponsorships and has no active affiliate partnerships — nothing on this site is paid placement, and no city’s score or ranking can be purchased or influenced by a partner. See the affiliate disclosure page for how that would be labeled if it changes.
We do not publish content under invented author personas or fake bylines. Every guide and reference page carries a byline reading “By PassportBroList Editorial Team” with the dates below, linking back to this page, so it is always clear who stands behind the claims on it.
How city scores are produced
The dating scene, safety, English proficiency and healthcare scores on each city page are editorial estimates on a 0–10 scale, not measurements from a single authoritative dataset and not a ranking of the people who live there. They are compiled by cross-referencing several public sources for each city — cost-of-living data from Numbeo, the EF English Proficiency Index, the Global Peace Index, U.S. State Department travel advisories, and recurring patterns reported in expat and traveler communities — and then weighing them into a single comparable figure by the editorial team. That last step is a judgment call, and we say so rather than presenting it as a precise measurement. Monthly cost figures follow the same approach: they describe what a single man spends living comfortably in a central, expat-friendly area, not a bare-minimum budget, and they are checked against multiple cost-of-living sources rather than one.
Because these are estimates built from public data and community reporting, they can lag real conditions on the ground, particularly for safety and cost, which move faster than a periodic review cycle. Treat a score as a starting point for comparing cities, not as the final word on any one of them.
How guides are researched
Long-form “dating in [city]” guides go through a higher bar than city pages. Every visa, entry or legal claim is checked against an official source — the destination country’s immigration authority, its embassy, or an equivalent government site — and is published with a “verified on” date next to the source link, not just a general “last updated” date for the page. Safety sections are written from documented, recurring scam patterns reported for that specific city, rather than generic big-city advice.
We also follow a fixed set of house rules on every guide, regardless of topic:
- No testimonials, quotes or stories presented as if from a real reader or trip — we describe general patterns, not invented anecdotes.
- No generalizing women, or anyone else, by nationality. People are described as people, not as a monolithic group with fixed traits.
- No advice on visa runs to circumvent a rule, and no advice on working informally on a tourist entry. Where a compliant option exists (a digital-nomad or remote-work visa, for example), we point to it instead.
- Safety sections lead with the specific, currently reported scam pattern — a fake dating profile tactic, a taxi scam, a bar-bill scam — not a vague warning.
How often facts are re-verified
Visa and entry facts are the most time-sensitive claims on the site, so we flag any visa fact whose “verified on” date is more than 90 days old for re-checking against the official source before it is relied on further. In practice this means guides get revisited on a rolling basis rather than a fixed calendar, and a guide can be technically overdue for review if a source hasn’t changed and hasn’t been re-checked yet — we would rather state that plainly than imply every page is checked daily. If you are planning travel around a specific rule, always confirm it directly with the official source linked on the page, not just this site.
Corrections policy
If you find a price, visa rule, safety note or any other fact that is out of date or wrong, email hello@passportbrolist.com with the page and the correction, ideally with a source. We review corrections against the source you provide (or our own re-check of the original source) and, once confirmed, update the page and note the correction and its date on that page. We do not quietly rewrite a published fact without leaving a trace that it changed.
AI use disclosure
Some drafts on this site, including parts of this page, are produced with AI assistance and then checked against primary sources by the editorial team before publication. AI is used as a drafting and research tool, not as an unsupervised author: every visa, legal, safety or price claim is checked against the official or primary source cited next to it, and the editorial team is responsible for what is published, not the tool that helped draft it. We are stating this plainly rather than leaving it implicit, because we think a reader deciding whether to trust a visa fact or a safety claim deserves to know how it was produced.
